Stout from the copper

Does anyone else have problems with heavy stouts blocking the copper hop filter? Mine was a right pain yesterday, never have problems with normal brews..... is it because of the flaked barley?

New hop filter design needed before next brew.

No, never have a problem running any wort off from the copper . . . . but then I have a properly designed hop filter :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I had a tight mesh filter that was o.k for 5 gallons stout but 10 was too much, going back to the copper pipe with holes a larger SS mesh...

I use the stainless steel mesh that covers a flexible tap conector witht he rubber removed and have had no probs with it.

I wont use it in the mash tun again though it crushed with the wieight of 8kg malt on top of it :shock:
nice and cheap to make amd you get 2 theaded barbs if you take them right apart or you could just keep one end and screw that into the back of the tap

Made some SS rings to hold the SS mesh on.

It's 28mm with 3mm holes drilled in it with some SS gauze. :thumb:
