The cycle into work this morning was terrifying. I kept getting blown sideways. I got blown into the kerb three or four times. I was scared I would get blown the other way an into the path of an overtaking car. So I was cycling at about 5 miles an hour (when the wind was blowing straight at me I couldn't cycle much faster anyway).
I'm currently stuck in the office waiting for the rain to ease off so I can cycle home (If it doesn't I'll catch the train). Fortunately the wind has eased of considerably since this morning.
Looking at the pictures on the guardian, the north has had it much worse than we have down south, with lots of flooding. We've just had a lot of trees blown over

In north Lincolnshire, it was pretty brutal this afternoon for an hour or so, but had died off a bit now. Mind you, were used to wind around here so perhaps in a bit immune to it.

Very wet and windy here last night fortunately it's been fairly calm today, no flooding where we live but some of the lakes were not so lucky.

We were battered twice today, with a calm, sunny period in between - N/W Yorks border, but no obvious damage. It was quite breezy continually from yesterday evening and still quite breezy now.

Home now. I've been out cycling in 34C heat during the summer no problem, but that's the last time I go out cycling in 60 mile an hour gusts

Just been out for a quick run. I only did 5k but it felt like 10 - head wind was really hard going. It's down to about 25/30mph with 50mph gusts here, which is fairly average for round here in winter, but the gusts were really punchy. Saw a few fallen trees and branches, and there was a fair few puddles flooding the lanes and tracks, but importantly, the ***** aren't up, so the rainfall can't have been that high. Looks like we've had it fairly easy all things considered.

yup - whilst it was dry for a while, my cycling routes from home are exposed in places. There's no way I want to be pushed backward whilst cycling on the bridge over the Loughor estuary - It was hairy enough in the car
