Just got a cracking little tool from the brew shop, its a small plastic devise for sealing off the syphon tube, when bottling beers with just one hand, cost about 50 pence...ish but it looks just the job for bottling.

It is like a rounded piece of flat plastic and when you press it, it closes up in a ratchet effect, you then just flick the other end and the round bit opens up allowing the beer to flow again, has anyone here used them?

I haven't, but was thinking about the benefit of something like this earlier. I think I might try fitting a syphon tube to the tap on my fv, and connect the other end to my bottling stick. That way I could put a crate of empty beer bottles under the fv and fill up more quickly that I can at present. Your method might be even better, as the beer may flow quicker through the syphon tube than through the bottling stick :hmm:

i thought about that cb at the weekend but my fv all have the normal barrel tap and the 1 i put the barrel tap on is a different dia i will need to strech the plastic tube and make a reducer

My tap is the same as you get with the budget barrel. It was a squeeze, but I got it to fit. You could soften the end of the tube in just boiled water.

I just a cheap old tap at the end of my hose, however that was my first go and i am looking to be more efficiant and advanced on my next go. Is it possible and wise to drill a hole then fit a tap into my current fv or shall i just buy a ready tapped version.
