Apologies that this isn't directly relevant to the usage of this, but had noticed that most of the big home brew companies are promoting these Stills, as far as I'm aware, distilling is illegal (without a license) so curious why there's a push on these, unless I'm missing the obvious.

So are we also drinking said starsan mix? 😂

Having seen the precautions necessary in a distillery particularly with the explosive atmosphere risk and risks around toxic elements in the foreshots and feints... aside from the legal which is a big no... this isn't something I would touch with a long barge pole. This thread will almost certainly self destruct after reading ... as soon as admins notice.

My record with home brewing beer is ropey enough, would 100% end up having both feet amputated if I tried to make my own spirits.

@Brewnaldo I thought that was a good idea to be fair, to stop your starsan going cloudy, and perfectly legal to distill water, as that's what they can legally sell them for.

Yeah, some of the websites seem to just put the product up with little to no comment. Some claim it's for water, and some seem a bit more liberal with the true purpose of the kit

An expensive way to up the quality of your starsan though in the current climate....

Please be assured I don't use it illegally. Assuming things can be dangerous.

I've had mine for years and years - it's basically just a kettle that you plug in with a fan on the top. No alcohol involved whatsoever and not dangerous in any way, unless you drop it on your toes of course! 😅

The reason I put it away in the garage and I don't use it anymore is that it takes 24 hours to go through the motions and it's quicker to go to the shop and buy the water.

@Brewnaldo for some reason it won't let me reply to your messages, but it lets me reply to everyone else's - very strange.

Post number 11 is a little misleading as you've quoted me but wrote your reply in the quote box. Only the first sentence of that post belongs to me.

Tess, it's my phone. There's something weird happening with it, specially with the keyboard.

Presumably Samsungs way of fleecing me for a new one

It must be. I had actually given up quoting people on here because what happens is the cursor jumps into the quoted post as happened in that one you mentioned.

It must have just slipped my mind and worked. It's absolutely boiling my piss though.

I did consider that I was laying on a beautiful assist for a distilling joke, so thanks for taking the tap in 🤣
