I have dropped the sodium percarbonate in favour of sodium perborate, this was on the advice of the chemist where I make my purchases after I told him that 2 guys in our club had problems with percarbonate dangerously heating up. Perborate is a little slower but still gets the job done and more importantly is stable. For no rinse I go for peracetic acid 1 ml per litre of water and is active for 1 hour.

Ok. I only use SP for paper labels, does the trick.

I am willing to bet Wizz Oxi doesn't bring the plastic labels or the sticky residue they leave behind off of the bottles.

Hi, Just after some help. With sterilizers everyone says Star San is the best but it seems a tad bit expensive. Seen Brew Safe sanitiser looks to be great value but is it any good

Star San no rinse cleaner steriliser - 473ml £25.01

Brew Safe cleaner steriliser no-rinse 1kg £11.60

Or is the any other cheap no rinse sterilisers. Thanks for your advice
Try a few Camden tablets ..had no problems yet ..and it's cheap

Do Camden tablets not just dechlorinate water?

The instructions on my pot suggest that enough of them can act as a sanitiser.

I do think starsan is the way to go though when it comes to sanitation. I previously used VWP which I would leave and then have to rinse several times over. By the time I come to use it, it's probably been exposed to the air for half an hour or I've touched the sanitised surface with my grubby hands or something. With Starsan, I can clean things in advance (with some other cleaner) and then spray with starsan to sanitise, immediately prior to using it. Plus, in very small quantities, Starsan acts as a yeast nutrient so it's actually good to get a little bit of it in your brews!

Cheers lads, I have five star Saniclean the guy said its the same as Star san with out all the foaming. Reading some posts on here looks like he's was right just takes a little longer. I got some second hand equipment. That Oxi is wicked the barrels / buckets, airlock etc are like new [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

Err err yes maybe your right ...it's just I've run out of the proper stuff and I thought to use the tablets ..and lo and behold my beer is coming out just fine ..next time am out I get some proper stuff

No, although that's what we mainly use them for, they're primarily a preservative. They work by releasing sulphur dioxide which kills bacteria and usefully reacts with chlorine and chloramine.

A particularly effective extreme sanitation practice, after an infection for instance, is to use a bleach soak, followed by a campden solution rinse, and finished off with a spray of starsan.

Thanks for the info.
When using Camden tablets to de-chlorinate, how long is good practice to leave the water before using in the FV?

Not long, give it a good stir to make sure it's dissolved and to disperse the SO2 and the reaction should only take a few minutes.
