Hi all,

Just a quick one to run by you.
I am about to do some bottling for the first time. I know the importance of sterilising used bottles....but my question is...I am 6 short so I've bought a multi pack of carbonated spring water..I'm intending ditching he contentents and filling with home brew...is there any need to sterilise these new bottles or will a quick rinse suffice?

What do you think?

Skippy.

I wouldn't even bother rinsing them, they contain water, what would you be rinsing them with?

If they have only contained water, would they need to be rinsed :wha:

Edit: Duncs beat me to it!

For sure no rinse.Your tapwater is probably more likely to have non benificial stuff tha the bottled water.

I'm pretty sure it's the other way round - tap water usually contains less bacteria than bottled water.

You dont need to put a campden tab in bottled water but you do tap water.
That's to get rid of chlorine and chloramine which isn't in bottled water. They are put into tap water to help kill off bacteria.
