sterilising the tap on my 25l fermenter?

Obviously when I rack my cider the tap bore outside will not be sterile. Do I need to worry or am I just OCD :-)?

I used to when I used to use a FV with a tap.

I've only just started to physically remove the tap and clean and sanitise it (maybe cos I'm furloughed and have more time), before I used to clean out the FV and open the tap letting the cleaning solution go through the tap and no problems.

thanks guys - i will sterilise it before i use the vessel. but once in use the outside could get contaminated again, no?

obvs can't sterilise the tap outside the vessels when it's full of cider..

You can. If you use a no rinse sanitiser (like star san) just put some in a spray bottle and spray the tap prior to bottling

That's what I would suggest, I always do this, also spray up the tap aswell.
