Star san

Just a quick question can you use De-ionised water with star San or is it better using Distilled water.

i always use tescos ashback bottled water as it works and is cheap

Cheers iceo looks like I'll have to pop to tescos's in the morning,then use the De-ironised in the iron.

i mix up a gallon at a time and use for cleaning all my brewing bits then put it back in bottle for next time and use a spray bottle for my bottles

This is the first time I've tried it and hoping it's going to save me time on cleaning everything,I normally use VWP and found no problems with it apart from the time it takes to sterilise everything.

+1 for Tesco Ashbeck Water, I use 7.5ml in a 5 Litre Bottle, lasts for ages if you use a spray bottle.

Would the sprayer be used to sterilised the outer components,then the rest can be dunked in the star San.

Can't believe how much water you use while brewing .

A 5 litre Bottle of Ashbeck +Star San lasts me around 6 months.
So thats 10 litres of Asbeck and 15ml of Star San in a year

Wow you end up using more than that using VWP as i have been,even making 6 bottles wine uses more than that.

I use a pumpup garden sprayer with a lance for my Cornies and FV,s ....cheap one from Lidl......and a hand spray bottle for Mash paddle, bubblers, bungs, lids etc.

I clean in HOT Oxi-Clean from the 99p shop, 1 scoop in a Corny then fill with HOT water, leave for 2 hrs then rinse well and I steralise with Star San from a spray ....30 seconds wet contact is enough, no rinse.

as i use saniclean(low foam version of starsan) i use 10mls in 5l and the wet contact time is a bit longer. but i 5l every 3-4 brews. fv/pb/taps/bottles/kegs/hands/hydro/jar/caps ect

Looks like I'll have to get some pumps to help sterilise my bits and bobs.

Even using saniclean seems worth it I didn't mind using VWP but it put me off using bottles because it took ages to clean,that's why I've started using King Kegs to save time.Now that why I'm going to use star San I'll start to use bottles and get stocks built up.

i use De-ionised water and a trigger spray
De ionised water at asda reduced to a quid for 2.5 litres
asda petrol station is 19p more

asdas own anti bacterial cleaner for £1.50
or 2 for 2 quid i bought 2!
ultra clear and great trigger spray
the original anti bacterial cleaner is easily rinsed away with no aroma whatsoever

That's the de-ionised water I got today but it was 1:99 bugger.
