Splitting wort between two boilers

Hi guys,

currently waiting for my 2 FVs to become available and reading lots. I have started to worry about my process and thought I would run it past you.

Currently I do a form of Maxi BIAB. so I mash with a full grain bill, split the wort between 2 pans for the boil and then liquor down to reach the full batch size. It has been working fine but I was thinking about my hops and what the best way to add them is. I previously was putting equal quantities into the 2 pans using muslin bags. I recently bought a hop spider so my 2 recent batches were only using this with the hop additions in one pan only.

I wasn't sure if there was a problem with this? Should I add some hops to the other pan, even if just for bittering?

I have amended the quantities to take into account the liquoring down.

Any thoughts?
 
If the pans are roughly the same size, I think splitting the hops between them is best. If you had a large and a small top-up sort of a pan, then all in the large pot could be the way to go.
 
Is the idea to make 2 separate batches of beer or will they be combined at some point after the boil?
 
I did this for years until I figured out a 2.5 to 3 gallon brew is easier and requires one pot.

Also, I go through it faster which means I get to brew more often (which is the fun part) allowing me to have more variety on hand.

Really, five gallons of something not so good is a lot of beer to drink.

That is a very good point! Although at the moment I can brew once per week, in the next few months this might not happen so might end up doing smaller stove top brews in the small amount of time I have. smaller batches are a bit more manageable sometimes!
 
I brew 19L batches now, but in the past I used to aim for about 23 litres (for my lagers because they need months to mature)

I used to have about 5 litres In a pot on the cooker and hop the main boiler, never had any issues.
