Managed to try a couple of beers yesterday despite the jet lag. First up the Newtowner .
Nice pale ale. Not very hippy and nice level of bitterness. Very drinkable.
The second was a NZ offering.
Vaccinator cloudy IPA. Total contrast to Newtowner. Had to be woken up twice to finish it
. Decided that was it for the day and went to bed.

Wasn’t so much a case of “couldn’t carry them” or “didn’t want more”, at almost £26 for 4 cans that’s a bit self-limitingYou must be jet-lagged, BB, if you only came back with 4! A little more effort next time, please. We don't want the Aussies to think we poms are a bunch of limp-wristed Nancy boys.

Modus Operandi, 'Former Tenant Red' local Sydney brewery, this big IPA is just stunning, named after the buildings former tenant who's doing a long stretch for growing pot in the building!

My daughter informs me I had Modus Operandi beers when I was last here but can’t remember which one
. Seems like the only honourable thing to do is seek them out and try again

I didn’t realise the Vaxxinator was NZ beer at the time but I have had a few in the past and found them very tasty!

I'm not a great one for sport but am reliably informed that since I was here last there has been a flurry of micro-brewery activity centred on Brookie (a.k.a. Brookvale) so I'll be having an explore in the near future.
Today's brew that I managed to finish without falling asleep
. Very nice hoppy pale ale. Got another 3 in the fridge

Pride of RIngwood and Astra are a couple of hops I haven't been able to source anywhere in the UK. In case you want to try something different. I get mine from Beer Co in Victoria.

Those beer prices similar in NZ as well.
Crazy when you consider a 25kg sack of base malt is about 15 pounds and hops are less than 5 pounds per 100g. I'd stock up from kegland @Buffers brewery and your margin reselling when you get home will pay for those beers!

Might be a good opportunity to call some craft beer bars about the empty plastic kegs, Key keg and variants they have always been delighted if I take them.
You could hack the tops off the different styles and take them home for later planning.

Good idea . I'm trying to squeeze in a visit to Dad n Dave's in Brookdale soon. Priority is spoiling the grandkids at the mo, but might sneak off one evening

How's the jetlag? Worst time was leaving UK on 20th of june and arriving NZ 21st of june, so basically longest day to shortest day in 24 hours. Awful.
I'd ring round a few pubs and take a stanley or other small knife and you can cut the top off an empty keg ( post decompressing it), looks better than carrying empty keg home if walking. Although filled with air they are very stiff and do make a nice stool to have a rest on.

I'm sure they do but @Buffers brewery hasn't tracked any down yet at home so it's a good excuse to crawl pubs. Most UK pubs will be metal barrels I'd reckon as they won't have 17 different " keg " beers on tap like a US or NZ craft beer pub can do.

They have far to many plastic kegs in the UK it's a pain for those which cant be recycled they end up in landfill. I have seen those with a plastic bag inside but I believe they get recycled as well.
