I am only starting out in home brewing and i have a coopers Irish Stout in primary 12 days now. Anyway since i will be leaving this until March to condition a bit it occured to me that i would need something to tide me over. Now i also have a Ribena wine on in the airing cupboard but even that will not be ready to drink for ages. So my question is this, from brew to glass what is quickest? I mean what can i brew that will be ready for drinking in 4 weeks? What is your go to brew when an occasion arises out of the blue and you need something drinkable FAST ? Wine, beer does not matter.

Oh before i forget can i use unflavoured gelatin to clear beers and wines because i have 12 sachets of it here?

Generally, lighter coloured, lower OG beers don't need as much conditioning. You could just about get away with 2 weeks fermenting + 2 weeks conditioning, but I'm not really up to date with what kits are available. A wheat beer kit or Coopers IPA maybe?

No idea on the gelatin, sorry.

I can be drinking one of my all grain brews in 2 weeks. But I don't use bottles, I force carbonate in a corny and all grain doesn't tend to need as much time like you do with kits!

If your bottling kits then the minimum is 2 weeks in FV, 2 weeks in bottle at room temp and 1 week chilled. So 5 weeks!

Drink the Stout and make another to condition.

I made coopers irish left in fv for 1 week (it seemed to have finished after four days) transfered to keg and after 3 days im not kidding its better than guiness. I added a chocolate essence to the keg before hand and its absolutely gorgeous honestly cant see how it can be better in a few weeks but ill leave it. Either way its brill to drink now only thing is outside is a bit too cold and it lost pressure in keg so brought it in and its back up again now. My opinion anyways.

u can also then compare what the difference is between how long youve left them

I am starting a Heffenweisen this week at some stage from a receipe a m8 gave me, its called a shocktop. I will proceed as per receipe but i will be cracking this one early, maybe 4 weeks total
