I'm not sure where to post this but here it goes anyway...

I'm on about getting a sodastream but there's no where around here to refill the co2 bottles, the cost to send them out is £6 on top of the refilling cost which seems mental.

Do any of you know whether there any adapters or kits available that'll allow you to connect a larger cylinder to the soda stream machine? I've been searching on google and I've found an American bloke who's done it but I can't find anything from the UK.

Thanks.

Email soda stream direct :thumb:

Sodastream won't want people using non-sodastream bottles, it'd lose them money.

I mean I'd like to be able to attach a welding bottle or something like it to the sodastream to save money.

I've found this:

/watch?v=uqV0NS2Vn_k (it won't let me post links so I can only include the last bit of the youtube URL)

But the tanks wouldn't fit in the soda stream, is there something like a hose that can go between the sodastream and the co2 tank? so the co2 tank can sit next to the sodastream as opposed to in it?

The link isn't really that necessary to be honest, it's an adapter so a regular co2 bottle can be attached to a sodastream, I'm wondering whether there's a pipe or something that can to between the sodastream to a co2 bottle. I've no idea about co2 tanks or anything like that.

Doesn't to me. (ex-engineer)

I just know sod all about welding, co2 tanks, hoses etc.

sounds dangerous to me

Have to agree, (Current engineer)

These sodastreams are made on a budget and are desighned to take those bottles they are suplied with
If you begin messing around connecting things like industrial size/pressure cylinders your asking for trouble, they are a household device so should not be connected to an indusrial source!

Im not saying your connections won't be safe or your regulators but the device may not be safe once the gas is connected from a different source with increased flow rate possibilities.

You can find adaptors on the web however have you considered refilling the cylinders rather than trying to rig up a large cylinder?
There are good reasons not to store large cylinders in your house.

You can find a refilling adaptor here

I am currently making my own one here

Dangerous?? - Yes in the wrong hands they could be :ugeek:

SodaStream bottles can be exchanged for new bottles at Asda, Comet, Currys, John Lewis, Lakeland and many other places, there must be one of these near you. Try SodaStream Store Locator to find out places near you that do the refills

Some LHBS's sell "Midget Widget" gas refills. I'm pretty sure that they are the same size as the soda stream canisters. :thumb:

FYI Argos are selling Spare Sodastream Bottles for just over £13 at the moment .This does not require an empty bottle to be exchanged .842/4963 is the item number
