I bottled 23 litres of a Belgian Dubbel on Sunday. I used a bottle cleaner with Starsan in and then put the caps into the bottle cleaner.

After capping the lot, I emptied the bottle cleaner bowl at and was horrified to see a small slug in there. The bottles had been in the shed so I'm assuming I missed the small slug in one of the bottles and it came out when I cleaned that bottle.

What do you reckon my chances are that the beer will be OK? Could the Starsan have 'sanitised' whatever slime came off the slug and into my beer?

I would not be happy , they above all of earths creatures disgust me most  saying that star san would most likely sorted out any slime as far as infection goes but ...........

it's a bit like some of those Belgian beers that have a worm or caterpillar at the bottom on the bottle :D

I have to say I would struggle with that old chap, I found a dead one in a bottle a couple of weeks ago that i was about to clean out and i just chucked slug and bottle, I nearly lost my lunch as well!!

Man or Whimp could spring to mind if I was that way inclined however suffice to say its only a bit of protein yum yum yum and I cannot imagine all the bottles will be affected. head back think of England

The fact your asking makes me think you should throw it away. Even if the beers fine you wont enjoy drinking it because of thinking about the slug.

I once put blue food die on a chicken stir fry by mistake, it tasted exactly the same and tasted nice but the blue chicken meant neither or the wife could bring ourselves to eat it all. Funny how the mind works

I feel the same way about soft shelled crabs, ordered them once in Venice thinking it would be a big crab with a soft shell, turns out it's a tiny crab with a soft shell and there was a bucket of them. I took one look and said "how the hell are you supposed to get the meat out of that", "you eat the whole thing, sir" . Actually tasted quite nice but had to give up after 3 or 4 as I just couldn't get past thinking about it. Anyway, back on topic, you do find some interesting things in bottles not just slugs.........

Luckily I caught these ones before I filled them. :D

Reminds me of Donoghue vs Stephenson...

Wouldn't phase me much, I wouldn't willingly eat a slug - but if I did I wouldn't really care.
I mean I often eat snails - I say caracois should be barsnacks, beautiful things.

I used to have a big slug problem in my first terraced house, I think they came up through the floor boards. Number of times in the night I would blindly wonder through the kitchen to the lav at the back of the house and step on them in bare feet  not a good noise or sight :nah:
Picking slug guts out from between your toes in the middle of the night is not a happy memory.

lol

I don't know why i found that funny but.... I shouldn't laugh though as our flat was infested with them. It was really bad last year with all the rain. Used to remove 2 to 3 a night from the kitchen. One night we was led on the living room floor watching telly in the dark and there was a big one merrily leaving a trail across the carpet. Not realizing what it was at first i picked it up.

The misses found it funny.

One little slug? It's not like they're radioactive. Besides, it came out in the wash. Don't worry about it and drink up.

Slugs are the most disgusting creatures on Earth
Possibly in the bottom 5, but in my opinion not quite as bad as wood lice, or wasps, Cilla Black or Bruce Forsyth.

I'm definitely not throwing it away so I'll supply some tasting notes in a couple of months.

This is AG#9 and on AG#2 I got an infection in the beer. It was a standard bitter recipe but all the bottles became gushers and had a nutty taste like a brown ale. My dad and brother in law thought it was great and drank the lot so they'll probably love the trappist slug ale.
