long time to ferment
ty

I assume that's a juice drink, where did it come from / what brand and did you check the ingredients labeling for preservatives?

What yeast did you use and did you add nutrients?

along with the questions above

what is the ambient temperature and the temperature of the must

it was 1090

To add to what has already been said i have found cranberry always takes a long time to ferment, much longer than orange or apple based wines.

1 bubble every 70secs

youngs yeast, tesco rasp and cranbury. temp 28 , yes nutrients
Cranberry & Raspberry Juice drink x 2
exotic fruit x 1

28 deg is awfully high get over 30 and you kill the yeast

the must will usually be a few deg higher than ambient.

18-22 deg celsius is optimal temperature :thumb:

its nxt to boiler, in pet with temp strip, rest of wines in there too , bubblin away

With only 12% juice it might turn out watery, I use 100% juice but only use one carton and a wgj.
Pomgrate from tesco is 33% so I use two litres.

chippy, im gonna do a pomagranate one, can i use asda juice, as i see u used pomegrate

You can use whatever you like unless it has preservatives in it, i tend to use 1 litre of the main juice if it is 100% juice with 1 litre of WGJ, if the main juice is less than 50% i use 2 litres and 1 litre of WGJ.

If you haven't already seen it have a look at the link in my signature below. :thumb:

When using Supermarket juice you should read the ingredients on the side of the carton. Reason being it will give you an idea of much more sugar you can add against the total level of pertential alcohol your yeast can with stand.

I have put a fruit juice on this evening which consisted of,

2 litres of Cranberry and Raspberry Juice, the 2 litres of juice contained 220g of sugar

1 Litre of Red Grape Juice, which contained 116g of sugar.

I wanted a high ABV for this wine so I added 850g of sugar which will give a yeild of around 15% abv.

Too much sugar at the start of the ferment may cause the fermentation to stall and it is very difficult to get it going again.

update, i took whole batch n boiled it , incase of preservatives added new yeast and bubbles now bit more frequent but not much . no frothing on surface, reading 1070
but ive acquired ec 1118 yeast for stuck fermentation, can i add tht to kick start it?

ive also gt apple and sultana , sultanas kept in demijohn during fermentation, seemed to stop at 1015 so bit sweet but fine, maybe too much sugars in at start,
can i also add ec118 to bring it dwn ? has bn racked and campden tablet added but has bn 2 days since

also run outta airlocks i read u can use cling film n cap how does this work exactly.

When I made my first and only ribena wine I boiled it, it took weeks and I binned it, I don't think boiling gets rid of the preservatives or not all of it.

ive just put a starter in of this ec 1118 with 100g of sugar and its took of like a rocket , froth n bubbles,,will see how it goes
