Am looking to make a Sloe and Damson Gin, but I can't seem to find anywhere which has Sloe's or damsons.

Any ideas?

I'm in Birmingham if that helps.

you might find some in supermarket fruit selection, but there season has just about finished now.

E bay will have them.
I managed to pick a couple of kilo's myself this year, although they were much harder to find. I have a good batch on the go.

Plus due to the summer there are nowt!
I think you mean the Spring, it was very mild early on and things started to blossom but then some really hard frosts knackered everything.

Around our way, no stone fruits of any description

I thought we had few or no sloes, then I looked on the other side of the hedges.. relatively sheltered bushes with a southern face appear to be the only ones bearing much fruit this year.

Thanks guys, now have sourced some sloes.

Any decent recipes flying about?

Does it matter what type of Gin you use?

Beans.

I've not seen any or many elderberries either even though the tree's were nearly falling over with the blossom. As moley says the frost buggered it up.

I've always used own brand spirits and found them fine.

We had a miserable amount of sloes this year and elderberry numbers were down a bit but we had a crazy amount of damsons. We picked about 30kg of damsons and still had to leave a load on the tree.

The damson jam is gorgeous so I'm hoping that will translate across to the damson gin, damson wine and damson ale.

We've still got 8kg of damsons in the freezer.

Elderberry and damson port is mighty fine
