There was an item on TV. The sales of home brewing has increased presumably over austerity conditions. They went on to say that home brewers can make better beer than even the smallest of breweries.

All well and good but if HM Government get wind then they'll be looking for someway to make up for the loss in tax revenue from less beer being bought in the supermarket / pub. :mrgreen:

That said it would be difficult to justify a tax on malted barley and hops.

Yes, but with brewed beer there's VAT + duty which is kind of what I meant.

The interest in craft beer is increasing across the board, this is just part of that interest.

Does anyone know if the proposed plans to set a minimum price per unit for alcohol affect will home brewing?

I’m guessing that it would be impossible to enforce for homebrew and we might stay under the government’s radar. Unless they bang up the price of malted barley.
