skelmersdale dark beer

I think I have the name right.

I used to love this dark beer. Can't find it or the makers of it.

Any help? Maybe miss spelt this.

You could try Wigan and Liverpool CAMRA groups, they may have some history on Skelmersdale breweries.

Is it the Brupaks Pride of Yorkshire Scammonden Dark that you are looking for? It's a dark ale/porter.

I believe this is a Lancashire beer
there are a few breweries around by skelmersdale
Martland Mill Brewery
George wright brewery which is the two nearest to skelmersdale

Sadfield: This is a home brew forum so I thought that intelligent people would realise this.
Thanks to Pavros: This is Brupaks. I bought this 10 years ago from a local home brew shop. Sadly these shops are diminishing. Supermarkets are selling home brew but haven't a clue about the product they sell.

I'm surprised. I've just checked all the usual online suppliers that I use and only 'Art of Brewing' and 'Hop and Grape' have this kit in stock. I suppose that everyone must be buying the Festival, Youngs American and Bulldog kits if they want a premium kit. This surprises me as the Pride of Yorkshire kits are very good and also come with a small teabag of speciality grains and hops. Perhaps it reflects that homebrewers are moving to the hopforward / hopbomb kits at the moment rather than the traditional British ales, just like we are seeing with the craft brewing boom.

People often inquire about commercial beers that they once had, in order to brew their own when the commercial version is unavailable to them. An intelligent person would know that, and also acknowledge that they were asked to provide additional information to help answer their query. Posting in the Beer Kit Discussion part of the forum would have also helped matters. Not being intelligent I like keeping a record of what I brew, including the correct names of any ingredients.

I used to get this as a kit from a home brew shop in York. Sadly due to internet home brew and the old mans reluctance to adapt, the shop closed. Finding a shop that sells Brewpack is very hard. Only found one.
