Hi
We’ve had a positive reply from Thornbridge who are happy to support and help but cos of holidays etc earliest date is 17th June so maybe we need to get a few of our ducks lined up prior???
Neil

That sounds promising but obviously doesn’t leave us with much time to get the beer brewed, bottled & conditioned.
The rules of the Brew Con comp (
https://www.brew-con.co.uk/thecommunitybrew) specify that we have to work on the recipe with the brewery.
So,
a) we need to decide on a style and recipe
b) send it to Thornbridge to have them have a look it at and amend as necessary

Also, our entry needs to include an 150 word essay detailing the process of how we put the recipe together, which sounds like a lot of messing about to me. This essay wouldn’t count towards how the beer was judged but without it then I guess they’d disallow our entry. We also need to take pictures of the brewing process and post them on Twitter.

For the actual brewing part we can brew the beer on any kit, so long as it’s not bigger than 1000L. Obviously I know people will jump at the chance of brewing at Thornbridge but if we haven’t got the time then we’re going to need a backup plan.

I would suggest meeting up sometime, either an evening or weekend at the Tap or other pub of your choice, to sort out the beer style and recipe as this might be easier than trying to do it via the forum?

Ive emailed back asking if we can meet before he goes on holiday @27th that will give us more time if we can do it.
Agree with Meeting up and formulating strategy and plan. I’m away Tuesday Wednesday this week but after that free.

Hi, it does look an exciting opportunity, and one that we need to jump on very quickly.
I'd suggest a meet up, sooner rather than later, where we can formulate a recipe and plan, then we arrange a meeting with Thornbridge to get it brewed.
I'm free from Thursday of this week up until, and including next Wednesday.
I've included my number for ease of contact.

This all sounds very promising guys. Agree that it's a good idea to meet soon, so we can start putting a plan together. I'm not free this Saturday evening, or next Tuesday (28th), but can do weekdays from 5pm, or weekend if that's better for people.

Cheers, Nath

Stunned & amazed to have won the #thecommunitybrew competition at @brew_con_19!

Out of the 28 entries we managed to scoop 1st prize!

We were up against some amazing beers from very worthy fellow competitors!

Well done team!

After all the drinking of the past week it would have probably been a good idea to give our livers a rest but what the heck...

Next Sheffield homebrew club meeting Thursday 18th July at The Sheffield Tap, starting 7:30pm.

The August meeting of Sheffield homebrew club is on Thursday 22nd at The Sheffield Tap, starting 7:30pm.

I'm just starting out. I've my first equipment on order and will make my first kit brew, next week. I live in Eckington S21 area.
Does one just turn up to the meeting?

Good luck with your brew Neil.
Hope to see you at a future club meeting.
If you've got some homebrew then bring some along but feel free to come along anyway & drink ours!
Next club meeting is on Thurs 21st Nov 7:30pm @ The Sheffield Tap, if you can make it.

Hello all,
I now have a full keg of Mangroves Jack Pink grapefruit IPA I need to share.
Is the meet still on this coming Thursday.
Do you just bottle beer and bring it to the pub?

Hi Neil,
Yes, the homebrew club meeting is still on this Thursday the 21st, starting 7:30pm at the Sheffield Tap.
We're usually sat in the wood panelled side room (near the disabled toilet). If we're not there look out for a table piled up with bottles of homebrew!
Just turn up with whatever you've got, bottles, growlers, mini keg.
It's all pretty informal. We just plough through whatever homebrew we've brought, starting with the lowest ABV, until we've drunk it all or the pub closes!
Looking forward to trying your IPA, see you Thursday!
