I've read that shaking your fermenter can stir up the yeast and brew enhancer to get the last little bit of booze out of the mix

Anyone recommend this?

No. :)

The last thing you want to to is oxygenate fermented beer, it'll taste horrible. "Getting the last little bit of booze out of the mix" isn't really the aim :)

Normally yeast will find and eat fermentables to the best of their ability. If you've got low attenuation, a very gentle stir might help, but lots of other factors can affect this too.

I think it was in regards to when the fermentation slows right down at the end before you reach your desired FG.

Which as you may have read is happening to me.

Never heard of that! :wha:
Wouldn't it just stir up all the sediment?
Can you post a link?
I know that if you have a stuck brew you can gently stir it up to get it going again, is that what you've read/mean?

I seem to recall Graham Wheeler writing that you could give your brew a stir whilst its fermenting but I've never bothered... not unless its stuck.
