Well I am not a trendy Metro type, and I have not paved over any of my front garden and I am complaining!
I understand any covering laid now should allow water to drain through into the ground beneath but what checks are in place non I guess.
Councils are now run on a shoestring without much motivation.
I'd be quite motivated on 100k + wages and a 16% pay rise.

It was voting against the amendments that exemplifies the current trajectory of the tory party and brexshit britain.
It shouldn't come as any surprise that those good old british standards are extremely low, nor should it that they will get lower.
Chippy, you really are quite the apologist aren't you?

No one is saying its OK to pump sewage into the sea but as i have proved its down to the state of our sewers and flood water its been going on for donkeys years and as has been said in the thread is getting worse due to people building on land that would have taken the water, its nothing new and has nothing to do with Brexit!

I am no apologist but what i am is sick of reading that everything wrong in the country is down to Brexit by winging remoners, you lost get over it and if you cannot and keep posting lies i will be more than happy to keep correcting you.

Edit to add - i have posted many times that i did not vote so i have no bias either way.

Living on the south coast at the foot of the South Downs, we’ve suffered a couple of sewage releases here recently following very heavy rainfall which seems to be more frequent nowadays (blame it on Brexit or better still climate change/global warming wink...). Southern Water, the water company responsible has been fined in the past for “accidental” discharges but are allowed during potential flooding situations to do a controlled discharge to avoid flooding. Until the country’s infrastructure is brought up to date we have a choice (a bit like Brexitwink...) discharge flood water mixed with sewage into the sea and rivers or flood surrounding villages and towns (and people’s homes) with said flood water and sewage.:confused.:

Spot on BB, until they get the sewage systems sorted so they can cope which will no doubt take years its either let it go out to sea or back up and flood peoples houses there is no third option.

"lost" . If brexshiter quitlings "won" and "remoaners lost" then I would be on a sunlit upland drinking milk and honey with no downsides. Instead everything that anyone with any sense pointed out would happen, has currently happened, and we are now quite literally up **** creek. You utter roaster. No wonder so many people have dipped from this place.

Well obviously the lost was the vote but don't let that fact get in the way of your constant moaning over the outcome.

Well **** creek is about to get better as in Brewnaldos link it says they have to get it sorted over the next 25 years.

And the firms would need to produce "comprehensive statutory Drainage and Sewerage Management Plans, setting out how they will manage and develop their drainage and sewerage system over a minimum 25-year planning horizon - including how storm overflows will be addressed".

When was English water privatised?

Another Brexit-like choice, privatise or nationalise utilities. Privatise and the shareholders suck all the money out. Nationalise and it's run (badly) by a bunch of politically motivated incompetents with huge salaries and pension schemes. It would be nice to think there's a third way but I would liken that to the current NI situation and Brexit :confused.:

Not trying to be disingenous here, because im not well versed on the subject, but I know of very few issues with Scottish Water who look after things up here....

But they can afford to fill their baths with evian and throw the bottles in the recycle bin eh :tinhat:

The joke is, of course, that the reason given to the British people for the privatisation of the industry in the first place was that only the private sector could bring in the funds necessary for the big spending required, which, tragically, the government couldn't afford to do. But of course it didn't pan out like that at all, did it?

What mugs we are!

Billions and billions of fish, mollusks, crustaceans, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, bacteria, etcetera crap in our oceans daily. No one complains about that. 😁 At least they crap in their own home.

I wonder how those politicians that think this is OK would be as comfortable if I had a **** in their bath. Just sayin’ 🤷‍♂️

I don't think anyone thinks this is OK but as has been said with the sewers not up to the job and too much flood water they have no option, watch everyone moan when bills go up to cover the huge costs of fixing this.

They should have been investing over the last 20 years, instead they were dumping sewage for tens of hours at a time on thousands of separate occasions. According to their own account this was to save money. Tell me they are the victims here.
