Billions and billions of fish, mollusks, crustaceans, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, bacteria, etcetera crap in our oceans daily. No one complains about that. šŸ˜ At least they crap in their own home.
I donā€™t ever recall the public being told not to go in the sea, nor seen beaches shut, because the fish have soiled the water.

I'd be quite motivated on 100k + wages and a 16% pay rise.
How do I earn that much money in the council? Iā€™m an Accounting Manager in the council and Iā€™m on nowhere near that. Our head of finance is on nowhere near Ā£100k+ either. Our Chief Exec is the only person in the organisation earning that, and it isnā€™t his job to go out and check drainage.

I love the myths that people that have no idea about how councils work love to trot out.

Edit to add - i have posted many times that i did not vote so i have no bias either way.

Sorry Chippy, but although you may not have voted you certainly show bias in every single thread that Brexit comes up in. You even referred to those who voted against Brexit as ā€œRemoanersā€ in the thread about Trumpā€™s new social media platform.

I thought it was a deliberate and well-planned ploy to stop French fishermen wanting to come and nick our fish. Proper British fish with the Union flag running through them like Blackpool rock, the envy of the world.
It's a masterstroke. Shi'ite trumps diplomacy every time.

I never voted (was on my holidays and was too late in sorting postal) and I certainly show bias. Brexit was an act of self harm on a scale that cant really be conceived of. So I suppose I cant say too much when folk trot out lines fed to them by the Mail and the Express such as "remoaner".

I do have an issue with "well there was a vote 5 years ago, therefore you no right to complain about the horrendous repurcussions, ever". Thats the absolute antithesis of democracy surely?

Still, I tend to think that Brexit was mostly predicated on having someone to punch down at. Soon we will see the shift from the pesky foreigners to the indigenous poor, and at that point, some will see the light......

The joke is, of course, that the reason given to the British people for the privatisation of the industry in the first place was that only the private sector could bring in the funds necessary for the big spending required, which, tragically, the government couldn't afford to do. But of course it didn't pan out like that at all, did it?

What mugs we are!
The only mugs are the ones who think it would be better under a socialist government.šŸ˜†

The trendy metro types who are complaining are the same ones who have paved over their small front gardens, removing very handy soakaways and causing the massive run off which is. the heart of the problem. Classic toxic media spin.
"Metro" types are unlikely to have paved over their front gardens" as by their very nature they live in the city where if they do have a front garden (or a car to put in it) it will be too small. The road I live at the arse end of London, everyone with the exception of one house has done it. Most without following the rules. I can assure you, none of them could be accused of being 'trendy' or 'metro'. In fact, based on your use of those words, people like you!

We do like to pop other people in boxes that suit our agendas dont we.......

I'm of the opinion that those who could have voted, but didn't vote are quite comfortable with either outcome and I class them among the "vote leave" group. Had the vote gone the other way they'd be among the "remain" group. Since non-voters show no strong feelings either way, they deserve to be blown whichever way the wind blows. The argument that there were lies on both sides is hogswash: the leave side had lies and deceptions by the shedload, the remain side had "project fear". the latter has been shown to have been grossly understated.
I was going to challenge Chippy's reference to "Remoaners", but since you've brought it up, not only is the term offensive, it's inaccurate since now that we've left, we can hardly continue to argue to remain.
It's quite appropriate that Brexit has floated to the surface in a Sewage thread, while it wasn't my choice, it could be made to work, but it's going from bad to worse by a band of incompetents whose only interests are their own interests.

I will put my hand up, I voted leave, If I voted tomorrow would I vote the same - no way.
Off topic but it was the older generation that swung the vote, due to natural causes and the pandemic would there be a majority that would vote leave now. I think not

Quite refreshing to see that btw.

Politicics us rife with people who nowadays simply double down on mistakes rather than admit that they "made a mistake" or rather that its possible to turn in another direction

I am not a brexiter and could have never voted that way.

I did however feel the remain campaign contained its own wrath of lies and smear too. Camerons stay, change, and reform was toss. But smearing people as racists and bigots didn't sit right with me. I know a lot of good people who voted that way but seeing so many people smear them with vile sweeping accusations.

To my view the EU is a monster but one we had to stay in. Better the devil you know.

So with Brexit I tend to keep my views to myself, do I like how it turned out? of course not. But I just hate the way more so how it's changed people on both sides of the fence to be divided and small-minded and nasty.

The argument has moved on and the more people are small-minded and nasty, the more we are playing into the hands of the TS who engineered this sorry state. We need to face up to the fact that it's not working, not because it can't work, but because the Junta don't want it to work. They need to have somebody to blame and have some "bullies" to stand up to so that we can rally around some imaginary standard, lick our imaginary wounds and feel jolly good about ourselves regaining the old "blitz spirit"!
There's no question of turning the clock back- Europe would be mad to have us back, especially after all the bad faith that has been shown this year- so we need to get shot of this self-interested bunch of goons and install a government that will work with Europe to the benefit of both. Here is the real challenge, not bickering over whatever water has gone under the bridge.
Cameron, as you say, was (and probably still is) a tossser.

I call them the popular term that many people call them, they moan about Brexit at every opportunity this thread being a perfect example.
I will point out the facts again in case anyone missed it sewage was pumped into the sea before Brexit so what was posted in the OP was wrong I pointed that out and I am accused of being biased, you couldn't make it up.

WTF has Brexit got to do with water companies discharging sewage into rivers and the sea, a practice that has been going on for years, way before Brexit. What am I missing

Spot on Buffers the OP was wrong and 59 posts later it's still wrong.

From the OP -
No wonder they wanted Brexit so standards could be ignored
