Hi there,

Ive started brewing "Art of Brewing's" home brew bitter. My 1st fermentation bucket is rather full and ive noticed after 1 day of bubbling that the underside of the lid has a thick sediment. Is this yeast? And if so, should this be mixed in with the beer again to continue fermentation? Perhaps a silly question but this is only my 3rd beer and I dont recall the other 2 having had this sediment on the top?
Also, one day seems rather fast for all this to be happening. Ive placed the bucket in the airing cupboard which tends to fluctuate between 24 - 28.C. Too hot perhaps....?

Thirsty as hell.

It's mainly yeast with a bit of scum. Don't worry about scraping it off.

24-28c is a bit hot. You may end up with some strange tastes. 18-22 is more like it.

First of all - Welcome to the forum :thumb:

Every fermentatoion is different and it's not unusual for all of this to be happening so quickly - what you have stuck to the underside of the lid is some of the yeast head that has been thrown up during the initial stages of fermentation. I wouldn't mix it back in personally - there is nothing to be gained from it.

Regarding the temp - thats too warm i'm afraid and may be why everything has happened a bit faster for you. Ideally you need to ferment 18c to 22c anything over that can cause an off flavour in the finished beer - I'd try to relocate it if you can :thumb:
