 Hi all. Quick question, I have made a batch of Robinson's Old Tom with an ABV of about 8% (not finished yet)

I will be putting this into a barrel for a couple of weeks, but when I come to bottle would it be OK/benificial to prime using natural molasses sugar instead of brewing sugar?

Regards Richard G :drink:

Sounds lovely. I'm no expert but what I have read suggests that the amount of sugar used in priming doesn't have much effect on the taste. Certainly as far as your "table sugar" is concerned.

If your dark sugar were to have an effect on the flavour I imagine it would be for the better in a beer such as that.

I've carbonated using muscavado and demerara sugar before, mostly because I have had quantities of these in each beer. I wouldn't say priming with it would make much of a discernable difference to the flavour though.
