Hello everyone.
I will get to understand this RO water soon:laugh8:

I brew in 54 litre batches, as I understand I adjust the RO water with salts for a 54 litre brew.
However I use approx. 75 litres of water to get to my final amount of 54 litres.
That means I have lost 21 litres of water, this water will contain salts I have added to my RO water.
That means I will be short of salts in my final beer.
So do I add salts for 75 litres or 54 litres.

Any help will be gratefully received.
Hope you have all got awesome beer for the festive season.

Regards,
John

No, where do you lose your water?

  1. Absorption in the mash: salt and water loss
  2. Capillary action in the mash: salt and water loss
  3. Boiling off water: only water loss, remaining salts get concentrated
The water profile you create is for the mash, all liquor and wort that flows through your mash in filtering still has the same concentration as the RO water with its salts. And in the boil they get a bit more concentrated, due to the boil off of water.

So, you add your salts for 75 l (mash and sparge water) to your RO water.
