now that I have received my novatwist screw caps from bobsbeer I need to remove wine labels from my bottle collection.

what are the best methods people have come up with to get all that old glue off with?

It all depends on the bottles, some just float off after a few minutes in hot water, others use wd40 to get the glue residue off. For me the easiest way is chuck them in the bath and fill it full of hot water, give it an hour or so and what's left on the bottles comes off with a quick scour.

Alternatively I get the other half to do it when he is bored lol.

Are you entering your wines into a competition?
No?
Why bother then?
I don't.
Nobody who drinks them cares!

The 4th or 5th time through the dishwasher the labels generally come off. I give all my bottles a quick no-soap half hour before sanitising and storing.

Some come off in just water and some just don't come off no matter what you do. I've given up trying to get them off wine bottles and don't bother any more.

Grolsch bottles with crown caps come off no problem in nothing more than cold water. Most of those small bottles of continental lager from the supermarket come off easily too.
