Refractometer

Lost me at starsan.

Refractometers come in different scales for different things, and for a couple of quid, its not worth the maths (or mistakes imo)

So, I've just ordered one. It's a Brix scale one that measures up to 32% Brix, which if I understand how they work correctly, is good for an OG if upto 1.128? Is that about right?

I’m a bit anal I’m afraid and I NEED to know the actual FG hence hydrometer for OG and FG. I’m in awe of your relaxed approach @Sadfield

I’m like you, I have used digital refractometer pre boil, and checked with calibrated hydrometer, and get different results every time. I just stick to hydrometer now.

I used my refractometer regularly when I was experimenting with my mashing process but now I've established my process I just measure OG and FG with my hydrometer.
