I over-primed my first AG brew when bottling due to a stupid mistake and pretty much ruined it cos I don't like fizzy beer and its like drinking champagne. When I pour it as gently as is humanly possible I can't get a 330ml bottle into a pint glass its so fizzy! If I opened and recapped the bottles now (it's been bottled for about 5 weeks now) would it make any noticeable difference?

Btw thought I'd ask this question in a new thread cos I asked it at the end of a long thread and it probably wasn't seen.

have you tried pouring into a jug first let it settle the pour into drinking glass which you swill out with water first this will greatly reduce the head and fizz of your beer.

Ha I tried that the other nite, couldn't even fit it in a liter jug! I'm very impatient so last nite I uncapped them all left them for half an hour then capped them. Don't know if it'll make any difference though.

It might not be how you wanted to drink them, but if you chill the bottles right down in the fridge the CO2 should dissolve into the beer more and make them a bit easier to pour.

I had the same problem with my last batch of Wilko pilsner. I re-capped these twice and even now it takes a good 2 mins to pour into a pint glass (which is practically horizontal)! but i manage to get the full lot without disturbing any sediment and with a good healthy head. But because of the fizz its very difficult to drink so all i do is take a syringe suck up some beer and squirt back in a few times until i get it to my liking, works every time.

Hope this helps
