Ooo. Big braumeisters. I really like the 200l.

Is fresh wort really that popular? Would people just have it as a base then or more like a kit? And how do you ship it easily?

Transport company, yes very popular here there are a few companies making them, all you have to do is ferment them. Everything is done up to the stage where the next step would make it illegal. (liquor licensing laws)

Hi lads n lasses,
After nearly 2 day with a Rapt Pills as with other people's thoughts, the most frustration,confusion ,annoying & I truly don't know how I got the pill past the stage find myself.
Ticked all the boxes including (they don't tell you)needed to REBOOT.
ATM I'm stuck on the in a jug, green light flashing & in the app. Starting session .
I'm told data should be be sending.
But alas the pill switched off (no green light)
So I can't go any further.

Unless I'm not titightening it properly.
total pain!
battery 100%, even place it horizontal and tilt it, I get one green light.
what makes it worse, I have to wait on someone to help screwing/unscrewing as I only have one arm.
I none stop jumping though the hoops of fault finding (troubleshoot )
before I give up all together anyone help?

Did you manage to communicate with it for setting up at all? Or is that what you are trying to do now?
IIRC it creates a WiFi hot-spot for initial setup and you connect your phone to that. That allows you to configure it to talk to your normal WiFi.

have you managed to connect to the rapt application? if so can you see your device?
if you have trouble opening the device you may want to fit a wireless charger, never need to open it again, setup once and calibrate. if you need to connect to it again you will be able to when you connect the charger, this will be the case anyway if you have not completed the setup/calibration procedure. the wireless charger makes it possible without opening so worth it's weight in gold.

I can manage the temp of my brew to within 0.2C, monitor the fermentation and then cold crash or warm up as needed. I can do this from anywhere in the world, from my phone. I don't have to take samples, or be at home in order to change things or progress the fermentation to the next stage. It makes it easy to tweak things like temp between different brews to see what difference it makes.
... And it's fun. I'm a techie geek and love to look at the data.

No complaints with my Rapt pills. I do have a wireless TP link close to the fermenters.
My only issue was having to open the pill to recharge, so I bought the wireless charging modification kit.
I can't see why they don't come as standard with wireless charging. I know it would add a little to the cost and a full charge will last a long time, but the need to open the pill to recharge is asking for problems later down the line with damage to o rings or threads.

I've had mine for about 2 years and have done over a dozen brews and have had zero issues. I use it for 2 things, deciding when to dry hop, and deciding when to finish, and for each of these I use both the SG and Velocity (SG per day) lines\values.

You might want to walk through with this video.

Things to look out for:
- The Pill's Captive Portal only stays up for 10 minutes so you need to get everything setup in this time (set up your Rapt.IO account before you start)
- Are you connecting to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network?
- Did you enter the Mac Address & User Code into the registration portal correctly (there are no letter Os in the Mac Address)

If you later re-open the captive portal to calibrate the device after it's been registered with the portal, don't open the WiFi or Registration pages again.

In normal operation, about 10 minutes after you've dropped it into your fermenter/water there are no lights on.
You might see one flash when it wakes up to send telemetry but until then they're all off.

Admittedly I was confused by this too and I think it's the source of a lot of needless 'have I done this correctly?' rework and head scratching.
In my experience the only way to check it's live and working is to leave it for 30-45 minutes and check the rapt.io portal.

To get around this with my wonky brain that was running on 3 brain cells most o the time...shipped it over to my pal in USA.
boooooosssshhhh!! he got it working and was chuffed that he got it instead o the tilt and legal milarky.
If i had it any longer, with my one arm and faffing on with it itll end up boken!!

it was too much for me, lack of wifi etc in the brewery. but my mate Ed ova USA sussed it straigth away lol.

I had one once, it worked once and that was it and in all fairness to Angel homebrew i think, they gave me a full refund

I think if you are brewing 1,000 litres then a reliable Wi-Fi gauge measuring the temperature most importantly. Apart from that, gravity isn't so important I would hate to lose 1,000 litres as opposed to 23 litres.
Doesn't take a lot of logic to step back and ask oneself, Do I really need this? Am I going to be able to brew better beers?

Later in the year I will run 2 x 500l fermenters, at substantial investment (& potential risk).

But neither will have any gadgets. I have a thermometer and checking a couple of times a day is plenty. Tbh bigger batches are easier to manage that small ones.

Data is no use without knowledge & experience. So to come a full circle imo books and ingredients make better beer. But everyone finds the own way, and if data helps you.. Brilliant.

I never had any issues with mine apart from patchy wifi, but they're great when bluetooth paired to a RAPT controller.
