Which is the best to use. Or is it a case of personal choice. Didnt use any in my first brew but im getting ready to order the ingredients for my 2nd brew so going to get some in stock.

I use 1/2 a teaspoon full in every brew. And to be totaly honest, ther isnt any need to rehydrate it, as as far as im concerend that done when its added to the boiler.

I have used both and use protfloc now as it is easier. You only need 1/2 a tablet in a 25l brew so 1 in my 50l brews then I don't have to do anything but chuck it in and watch it fizz. Barley bottom sells them by the 50 so only ~13p each.

Thanks Prolix. :thumb:

Already placed this order. ;)

Been thinking of giving Barley Bottom a try but get put off by the delivery charge  . My current supplier does free delivery on orders over £25 :thumb: . But a lot of people like BBs quality :hmm: so might give him a try with my next order.

BB does the best value hops in town so I normally order stuff when I need more hops... who is your P&p free supplier, if you dont mind me asking?

I use BB for those odd hops that I am not going to use a lot of as the quality is second to none (and I know where they come from and how they kept and for how long) . . I've added a couple of bags of grain to this order as I am likely to be out of base malts before getting down to my usual supplier . .. . but I think this year the Hop Freezer is going to be completely restocked . . . which will be expensive  I'm probably going to have to give the heave ho to 5 or 6 Kilos of hops

heave ho? what a waste, don't do that - bung them all in one 50 ltr batch. 1k for bittering and 4k aroma.

:D Go on, you know it makes sense!

I was thinking of Rick when I wrote that :D
BTW Snail .. I'm trying protofloc in next weeks brew. I bought some new Irish Moss a few weeks back and since then I haven't been getting a good cold break. Thought I'd give it a go.

Absolutely. Don't filter them out, keep them in there and eat with a knife and fork - or alternatively use it as a dip for crisps :D
