Hi when priming say an alcoholic ginger beer. Do you leave the bottle out before placing in a fridge? If so how much sugar do you recommend per litre bottle etc?

Thanks

Ie not refrigerate for a certain time period after priming with caster sugar sorry I'm a noob

I primed my ginger beer with 1 tsp of caster sugar but did not make the drink very fizzy was wondering if there was another way or is it just to add more sugar

I primed my ginger beer with 50g for 5L and it was a nice strong fizz

Carbonation can take several days and like fermentation needs a temp of between 20-30c
If you put the bottles into the fridge before they are carbonated the whole process is slowed leaving u with a flat drink!

I always have some one my brew bottled in a plastic pop bottle that way u can give it a squeeze every now and again and ur not having to recap or poor away any of it if it's too flat!

If they have just even chilled too early get them out of the fridge somewhere dark and warm and they should be fine!

I batch prime my brews which basically means adding 50g of sugar to hot water desolving and cooling with a little cold water and then adding to the brew all at once then bottling
This method is easier than a spoon at a time and get the sugar into solution so spreads niecer ;)

The general rule of thumb someone will come and say is two weeks warm two weeks cold, personally I've always found 10 days has been enough to get the fizz I want, but then I only used half a tsp and it was for ale. 1 tsp should be plenty though.
