Pots of ......well er pots!

I did a rosemary and bay leaf brew on Sunday and struggled with the missus’s stock pot, about 7 litres, so decided to hunt for something of my own.

Spotted a 15L s/s pot and lid on Amazon for £16 but decided to plod on some more and then found a set of four, 7.5, 11, 15 and 19 litres for £20 delivered. Sorry don’t know how to post an Amazon link but search set of four stock pots or similar.

I’ve read the reviews and I think they’ll be ok so all grain here I come.

Be careful i bought a similiar set from amazon the biggest one was less than stated litres. And one of the smaller ones the base was so thin it burnt the onions i was cooking for a curry in ten seconds and now has a permanant burn mark.

I complained and amazon gave me a full refund. I carried on with the biggest pot for 3 extract brews and that pan is now used in cleaning process. Your next issue is can your stove heat 15 litres

I think I'll probably use a gas burner but also thinking about an induction hob. Really want to do 23 litre batches so a bit of juggling needed I guess?

... there are a few negative comments in the Q&A section and quite a few "One Star" reviews.

However, at that price, with riveted handles, for boiling wort or mashing? I'd go for it if I needed one! :thumb:

I use a 7.5kw propane burner which works a treat . My commet was mearly aimed if you were trying to heat 19 ltrs on a household stove most cookers will struggle mine certainly did.

23 litres in a 19 litre pot is certainly doable just might require post dilution. Id aim for 15 litres going into the boil to avoid boil overs

... and if SWMBO ever caught me using it to boil wort, my knackers would be in the toaster alongside!

Looks like 15 in a 19 litre and water later is where I need to look.

My missus would kill me if I brewed in her spotless kitchen so I make sure she never catches me
