Hi,
My 1st AG brew day is coming up this weekend hopefully, I'm going to make the Summer Lightning recipe from GW British Real Ale book. I think I understand everything and I've made my calculations, just one thing I need to ask. The recipe calls for 10 grams of Goldings added post boil, how long do I leave the hops to steep before running the wort off??? I haven't got a chiller yet so I'm just going to run the wort off into the FV, cover and leave to cool overnight.

Thanks

Well it means adding the hops once you have turned off the boiler to steep. At the moment lots of people seem to let the wort cool to 80c or 70c before doing this (because of the theory that the oils are carried off with the steam). If you are able to let the boiling wort cool to 80c then add the steep hops and leave them for 15 mins, then transfer and cool overnight as you planned to do.

I have made Summer Lightning following your same recipe! It's a great clone and a brilliant choice for your first brew :thumb: Keep us posted as to how it goes.. If you get stuck or need any help/advice post it straight away and one of us on here will help you ;)
Have a great brew day
