Rubbed with all kinds of loveliness, to be slow smoked for around 11 hours...

...tomorrow's gonna be tasty!!!

EDIT: And it's not completely tenuous - the rub is a recipe by forum member (and fellow BIABer) puravida from a post a wee while back viewtopic.php?f=10&t=27373&start=0&hilit=ribs

Wow it looks Fantastic you very lucky person I am so Envious of you I can only say I hope it tastes a fantastic as you have got it looking YUM YUM YUM :thumb:

Check out the link G. There's a rub recipe there, all I do is swap out quarter of the paprika for smoked and use chipotle AND chilli powder rather than "or"...

In the oven since 5am, just off to get the Q lit to start layering on the smoke.

It's cooking on this, my trusty old Landmann party grill

I have never got my head around why its called a pork butt when it come off the pigs shoulder haha.
that looks like its going to make bloody amazing pulled pork

Edit- just googled it and its because they used to pack the lower quality cuts (slow cook ones that taste amazing) I into casks and butts.

You learn something new every day.

Thats what you call a chunk of meat. Your neighbours must think your nuts lighting that at 6:30 in the morning.

They already know I'm a bit odd!!!

Out there at quarter to eight getting a fire going, makes a change from the malt smells emanating from the kitchen before eight some other weekends...

I wonder if you could do roast potatoes on the bbq.

Yup, got a charcoal chimney. Just light a chimneyful every hour or so and chuck it in...

Yes, of course you can. Just need a good stout tray that can take the heat. :thumb:

You'd need 5 or 6 hours for a lump of rolled leg - I've done rolled shoulder before, it worked really well.

Never knew that...

But if you are ordering one from the butcher you need to ask for:

"Whole pork shoulder, minus the hand, bone in" and you'll get the right thing. :thumb:

A little. But that and 3kg of chicken should be enough to feed the 16 people coming round!!!

I don't think that'd be even nearly enough for me and 16 of my mates...
Might do 6-8 at a stretch, with sides.

Then again I don't know how normal people eat by comparison
