This is one of those situations where "outsourcing " is acceptable in my book...I think that the Home office should consider moving him to a Taiwan or Vietnam prison..see how he likes the "Bangkok Hilton"..Save the country a fortune keeping him there. I would send a reporter over periodically to write stories for the press about the cockroaches, 30 to a cell, no beds, no bogs, no kitten soft bog paper and sharing the cell with proper nasty poxed up rapists..this will make the next scrote think twice before going on rampage...anyone seen Midnight Express???

I believe I'm right in saying that tube-feeding is no longer legal without either a physical illness which prevents chewing/swallowing, or detention under the Mental Health Act 1983 (AKA sectioning). Sections 2-4 of the Act remove the right of a patient to refuse medical treatment, such as tube-feeding. So Cregan faces three possibilities: he'll get what he wants, he'll starve to death, or he'll be declared insane.

I believe that if you're in prison you should give up any rights you once had otherwise what's the point? I think rights should be earnt by not going around killing people.

You are right in that he would need to be treated under the MHA. He would need to be transferred under Part 3 of the Act on a Section 47 MHA with restrictions not S2-4. Section 2-4 mainly apply to persons not in the criminal justice system. Don't forget the definition of 'Mental Disorder' is 'any disorder or disability of the mind', so it would be quite easy to argue the case in this instance. He would appear to be psychopathic, and that comes under the definition now and is classed as treatable.

I fully believe this. The second you commit a crime and sent to prison you give up all rights you had on the outside. Prison is suppose to be somewhere you don't want to end up not a place with free room and food.

Agree with the idea that once you go into the clink, you should lose all your rights. Personally I think they should move him. Send him down to HMP Dover maybe. Serve him right for having the cheek to try and pick his prison.
