Pluto gun vs party tap

The pluto beer gun reads very well but being perpetually environmentally friendly (tight) I do wonder if it is any better than a basic party tap.

Has anyone got one or upgraded to one?

According to the description on BrewKegTap "Works just like a party tap but looks and feels better. "

So unless you are going to spend time fondling it and looking at it I can't see the point if you already have a party tap .

Well yes, or I wouldn't have suggested it. Actually, I was using a party tap myself just because it was easier at home so know exactly the problems that can occur. With a Bronco style tap it is extremely difficult to regulate any flow, they really need to be open or closed. Dispense pressure is even more important. With the NukaTap Mini, it is designed in the same fashion as a full size tap, with flow in mind. Used in conjuction with the flow control disconnect it works a treat, much better pour.

I am getting to like the idea of kegs.

Not sure now if I am heading for a tap on a corny or a minibar setup.

Years a go I recall seeing a corny "hat" that sat on top of the corny and was a tap & drip tray.

I moved from a party tap to a pluto for on the go, what swayed me was the duotight compatibility, the one I had wasnt duotight compatible and I had to use hoseclamps, stepped the pluto down to a 3/16 line for a shorter line length, no fear of leaking clamp connections and easily disassembled for cleaning (not saying the stepping down cant be done with a party tap but it never really dawned on me until I had the duotight connection available at the source says more about me than the product)...it is also more tactile and feels like a step up from the tap but that's not really important. I like the look of the nuka mini and flow control disconnect but I've heard the flow rate is slow, thats a total 3rd party opinion, I've no first hand experience but thought it worth mentioning

The more tactile, better size (big hands) & build quality all appeal, esp the stainless one

But functionally (on the same hose) is there any difference?

To put this in perspective, I have used a lot of party taps in the past. My twin bottler uses them, with as bottom fillers (think beer gun). They have always been superb.... Hence my questions.

In fact a small mod yesterday improved the party tap pouring....more testing later

Hi all, was about to order a NukaTap mini with flow control and spotted a note on TMM that they don’t fit the 20l Oxibar kegs , which I have, due to the handle. Any recommendations on an alternative?

They are fine if you take the handle off the Oxebar keg. But, the handle is handy!

Hi BC do you have the 20l versions as I didn’t know that you could remove the handle? I thought it was part of the lid?
