Don't CML do a proper lager yeast now - their Hell yeast? That's might be cheaper if you need to use 2 packs.
They do, but still recommend 2 packs of fermenting cold, I brewed a batch using it with my me mate but due to lockdown and his forgetfulness I never got any to try, apparently it was pretty good.

Me too, I used 2 packs at 12° (which is no great expense as they are so cheap) and the resulting faux lager was nicer, in my opinion, that the same recipe using 2 packs of MJ lager yeast. The only downside is that the CML Kolsch yeast was out of stock last time I looked.

I am currently mashing in a kolsch/larger not sure where it falls
5kg pilsner
500g Vienna
150g carapils
probably use saaz
yeast is CML Kentucky which I have never used. It will be fermenting at garage temps. The fridge is occupied

The CML Kolsch yeast is flexible stuff. I've used it in a Kolsch and repitched the yeast cake into a Vienna malt based IPA and it worked great. Not the most flocculant of yeasts, but adds a consistent pleasant fruity floral character.
