I don't doubt you but who would buy the 3 star? More to the point, what engines ran on, 2 / 3 / 4 star? 5 star high compression as mentioned above.
I think I ran a 2 stroke motor-bike on 2 star and added a little oil into the tank as well. Jawa 350. Bit of a beast.
I'm not sure what 3* went into.

I remember my dad using 2* in the first 2 smaller engined renault4s he had, but moved up to 4* when he got the a GTL one with a 1100cc engine.

So I guess 2* was used by likes of mini 850s & 2cvs as well.
All my friends dad's with their company cortinas used 4*

"jawa 350" and "bit of a beast" in the same sentence.

Please elaborate, cos I am reasonably sure, no knee pads were harmed during the ownning of a jawa 😁
Ha ha - 0-60 in a week.
It was my biggest and heaviest bike - hence beast. Before the beast were Hondas, 50 75 & 125.
The 125 took myself and then g/f to the Loire valley + camping equipment! G/f now wifie. The Honda effect.

A small part of me wanted you to come back with... I changed the sprocket set, tuned the carb, popped a micron on it and won every speedway event I entered for the next 5 years 👍

When I was growing up, my next door neighbour's dad had one of those. It was a beast, if you tried to kickstart it like a Japanese bike it'd have your leg off 😱

Cheers Tom
