I used to ride a Beamish Suzuki similar to the one below in local trials many years ago great way to spend a Sunday.

I don't doubt you but who would buy the 3 star? More to the point, what engines ran on, 2 / 3 / 4 star? 5 star high compression as mentioned above.
I think I ran a 2 stroke motor-bike on 2 star and added a little oil into the tank as well. Jawa 350. Bit of a beast.
