Jelly shoes we called them. As they were made of plastic you could paddle in the sea wearing them. I think I was forced to wear one pair and refused to wear them after a while.
They were great for going in the sea as we used to have to walk across stones to get to the water.
We had a nice sandy beach. We had to walk 2 miles to get to it though.
Quickest routes were through the woods or along a railway track that went over a viaduct. Those were the days - “see you at teatime Mam, off to the beach”.

We used to go to Pontins at Southport when we were nippers the fair was brilliant back then.
