I haven't read the article I will have a look later.

So the Tories failed over 14 years.

Labour have got off to a bad start if they carry on as they are now who will you vote for in 5 years time?

If you don't mind posting in a public forum.

Who did you vote for last time and who did you vote for this time and do you now regret it.

Where did you get that from? I had thought the opposite was true, that no 10 would support the ICC and it's rulings.
oops just rewatched my mistake was a shadow minister that made that statement, proof they all blend into one, the home secretary has flip flopped from not her issue to they would uphold

My natural camp is Labour, but there's a lot I dislike about the way they do things.
I resigned from the party when Starmer refused to take a stance against the slaughter in Gaza. I think he's a moral coward. And I voted LibDem. Even their manifesto looked more Labour than Labour's.
In Starmer's favour, he doesn't seem to be swayed by the rabid press, while Davey is already caving in to the farmers. So it's too early to tell.
But it won't be the Skum.

I voted Labour though am more a Lib Dem but no point in voting for them here.

I have always thought of myself as a centrist in my politics and I feel that my options are limited now that the Tories have moved to the right, I would never vote reform.

I think that Labour have got off to a rocky start, that said if you dig below the veneer of the gutter press you'll see that some of the polices such as winter allowance and farmers inheritance tax aren't quite as bad as the Mail would have you believe. At least Labour are fronting up to difficult issues and not deflecting like the previous government. I've said it before, we are paying for Brexit, the Tories couldn't face making difficult decisions because they were the ones who caused this calamity.

What I want is the NHS fixed, a grown up discussion on immigration and public services sorted. That'll be difficult though!

On balance i'd vote Labour again.

Absolutely this. Moral panic being whipped up by the usual suspects. They seemed less concerned by the managed decline of the previous 14 years strangely enough.

What an idiotic petition based on the fact he 'believes' labour has gone back on its promises made during the election.

Can someone point me to an *actual* promise that Labour have broken since the election that was made in their manifesto? And I'm not talking about some promise made years ago. An actual promise that was made in manifesto or during the election period?

The real test will be in five years time, not four months after an election when the government has had to find bundles of cash to stop schools and hospitals collapsing. And the Lid Dems have the luxury of never having to be held accountable for their decisions!.

Not going to argue with the first bit but to be fair the Lib Dems were definitely held accountable for their decisions in the coalition government, I would argue unfairly so!

Yes, that did occur to me after I hit 'post reply'. That was very much the exception for Lib Dems tho, given that they had not been in government for 100+ years at that time!

I agree, they are not going to put 14 years of mismanagement right in the first 5 years but if they get over this small bump and make a decent job of it i will gladly vote for them.

Doh i thought it was an article not a vote.

Look at the first map below the darker the colour the more votes cast, no surprise there then.

The first pic is from the call a general election poll the second is the actual general election result.

To refresh here is the manifesto published prior to the election.

Very vague so hard to say where they have directly broken pledges, the issue is the thousands of hours where then shadow ministers spoke on behalf of labour did make promises ie no plans for farmers inheritance tax etc.

Pledges and statement statements below in BOLD are copied directly form the above manifesto

This will make everyone better off. Not just a few people. I think this a hard one to prove is EVERYONE better off post budget? open for debate.

We will have very strong rules about that. - the change on how debt is classified is again open to debate on that one

We will make Britain the best place to start and grow a business. -not what the city are saying posy budget but open for debate

We want the government to run trains instead. - kind of hollow as this was already the case in Scotland, has this happened in the rest of the UK yet?

Our plans include:• Making roads good and safe foreveryone.• Better bus services for local areas.• Changing towns to make them better and building new towns. - maybe just because I live in a Devolved area, but I can't say this is better again open for debate on the wider UK

We will change this by building 1.5 million new homes. - no increase so far in my area again wider UK open to debate

We will give older people enough extra money every year for their government pension. - yes this may yet happen but hard to see this as genuine when at th same time removing cold weather payments

We will be leaders in saving the environment at home and in the world. - VERY long way to go to fulfil that lofty claim open to debate

Save people money by making electricity and heating bills cheaper. - opposite has happened since they took office, may improve but currently can't say this is true

Support more people to use cars that runon electricity - hard to agree with this when the refuse to offer any incentive, continue to impose full road tax and introduce the expensive car supplement to EVs. Open to debate but cannot see how this is being met quite the opposite

Support farmers in Britain to grow more food. - the recent protest would suggest otherwise and hard to see where this commitment is being met in real terms open to debate

We will make the police stronger, better and safer. - very hard to agree with this one open to debate

For example, we will make it quicker for crimes to go to court. - many will argue this is untrue the backlogs are huge, they showed they can fast track when they need to as in the rioters, but every other case is falling further behind or so it seems open to debate

That the easy picks loads more in there that could be picked apart but open to debate.

Do i think they have broken their manifesto pledges Yes or a t very least not acted in the spirit of them.

Bigger issue is all sound bites and interviews that expanded on the pledges that were used to sell the dream, very cleverly they are not in print and therefor get dismissed as not in the manifesto, this is smoke and mirrors all over again

I don't know if they will achieve all these, fail in them all or lie about them, all I would say is that 4 months in is way to early to make any judgement. Come back to this next December.

Sir Keir Starmer has said he is "not that surprised" that some people who did not vote Labour in the last election want a "re-run" of the poll. (BBC News)
A petition on Parliament's website accusing Labour of breaking promises and calling for a new general election has gathered more than two million signatures - the third highest since 2010.
The petition has got more than 100,000 signatures, so the subject is likely to be debated in Parliament, but would not trigger a new election.
Asked about the petition on ITV's This Morning, Sir Keir said: "There will be plenty of people who didn't want us in the first place... my focus is on the decisions that I have to make every day."
The prime minister argued that he had "inherited a lot of problems" from the previous government and that he had decided to "take the hard decisions first".
"I’m not surprised, quite frankly, that as we’re doing the tough stuff there are plenty of people who say 'well I’m impacted, I don’t like it'.
"But we’ve got to make the big calls on the NHS and on schools that are really important for the here and now and for the future."
