Over primed keg

Please help I've overprimed my keg by 10x the amount. it should have been 80grams and I have put 800 grams, don't know where my head was lol. is it better to just get rid or see what happens. I hope I haven't got a keg bomb on my hands 😆

Wow that is over primed, and I would expect it to blow.

Not sure if this would work, others will be better placed to say, but perhaps transfer it back to a clean FV, let the new sugar ferment out and then back into keg with appropriate amount of sugar?
 
If it's a standard keg it should have a pressure relief valve, this is why barreling is safer than bottling :lol: it will just vent itself. You could help it along by pulling the rubber band down with the top of your nail after a week or so.
 
Cheers guys I don't think it has a pressure release. Just a co2 connecter on top but don't think il need that this time around 😂 I will manually let it out for a few days hopefully no keg bomb cheers guys
 
It'll vent thru the little rubber on the valve inside the keg and blow off thru the hole in the side of the valve on the outside,plastic kegs are made and fitted with those valves to vent around 15 psi to stop damaging the keg

I usually put two on to get a bit higher Psi but only on a king keg as that small cap budget barrel won't take it so kindly as they tend eventually start leaking from the seam underneath had 3 go the same so if you get sucked in with the brewing bug when you replace go for a king keg or cornie
 
You might find that it's dried out the beer rather a lot and added a fair bit to your abv as that sugar will have fermented out completely, with no residual body.

One good thing though...you won't make the same mistake again!
 
Please act on the advice here quickly, Bumpyjoe. That amount of sugar might lead to seriously high pressure. If not dangerous, very messy!

I doubt it because as I said earlier they are designed to blow off excess pressure over 15 psi its a two way valve unlike the cornie one which is a one way no return.but if he's a tad worried he could leave the cap untightened a little.id be more worried about the taste of it myself

It tasted beautiful on fg as well it was only a kit. Ruined it lol. thinking of trying one from scratch next time a bit more care though cheers guys

You could do what wheezy said and put it back in the FV to see if it starts fermenting out again,that's a lot of sugar nearly a kilo, maybe pitch a bit more yeast nothing to lose if you think its ruined
