If all goes to plan this weekend i will be brewing something similar to this....
recipeview.php?recipe_id=406

The wort will divided into three fermenters and the following Yeast will be applied.

WL 007
WL 013
WL 023

At casking i will use isinglass to fine

Each brew will be served from a pub style SS pin using gravity method....

In a few weeks i will have a gathering to judge the Yeast

I'm trying to keep all things consistant so it only the Yeast we are judging... that the plan annyway

Will kept the post updated as and when.....

looks good bones.............i`ve just started using some liquid yeasts and they really add to a beer - gives it that missing something :D good luck with your experiment i`ll be watching with interest :drink:

What a good idea.

I plan to do something similar in a months time with 'harvested' yeast from various Belgian beers. I've got Duvel yeast bubbling away now and will be 'collecting' Westmalle and Chimay yeasts later this week - will pitch 3 or 4 ways and keep all FVs at the same temperature just to study the effects of the different yeasts - although with Belgian ales, the 'study' will end up being from a horizontal position in the gutter, of course.

good plan. I can only do 5 gallon brews but have split into demijohns for tests. You can get about 8 bottles per demi. :thumb:

Mash on.... :thumb:

I will be working away from home this week.... so i will pitch this evening and pray

Shame... as i was hoping to take some pics during the week...

I wil take a pic monday morning to show lift off..

All in casks and i have bottled some up as well in clear bottles to see whats happening....

All three yeasts had no problem kicking off...

007 has cleared the quickest.. really quite bright... the yeast floculates as clumps at the moment... FG1010
013 has cleared but not as quick and not as bright... the yeast has formed a thin pancake at the bottom of bottle.FG1012
023 has not yet cleared..... the yeast has formed a pancake FG1012

More updates when i do tasting.....

i`ve done a couple brews with 023, a bitter and a stout. Worked really well in the stout added an almost fruity flavour and a slight sweetness that worked well, the bitter is only bottled a week and just coming into condition but tastes promising. Be good to hear your thoughts on all three

Hi Guys, just made the taste test while my touge is nice and fresh.. :D

Well i must say you need to be here to understand it... cause i dont... :wha:

This is my observation although vauge...

In the end all three dropped bright cant seperate

Condition in all 3 OK but 023 had more life it may settle down later today.

007 and 013 flavour is similar.... but 013 had a little more to offer than 007 which IMO is towards bland.

023 had more to offer.. not sure if its yeast but the conditioning was pleasing and enhanced the flavour. The flavour was more beery it that makes sense... because the beer was light in bitterness due to boiler not working correctly was probaly a good thing for this test... the 023 definely enhanced the hops what little there was.

I am brewing tomorrow but only have 007 and 013 available... out of choice 023 ticks the box for flavour..

Happy Brewing Guys

 Great experiment bones, the bitter I made with the 023 is tasting great after two weeks plus in the bottle :D
