I am not a million miles away, I also have Severn Trent Water. If it is a mild TCP flavour then its the chlorine in the water, bung a crushed campden tablet in the HLT before doughing in. For pales a bit of gypsum in the mash helps a bit too.

I suffered from a persistent flavour for a while and it seemed to be getting worse. I ditched the old fv and presto! nasty old flavour gone!
