Id have been cheeky and said id lost my brew and KK should replace that aswell and the cost of the damage to the carpet after all its faulty product that caused it

Still to come Eddie :thumb: that's exactly my plan - still had no chance to get my KK back to my LHBS, but KK will be getting photos of the damage and a letter asking for compo of some sort for beer and carpet. Shy bairns get nowt etc... ;)

Next time I'm in my LHBS I'll see if they sell King Kegs as well the Young's budget barrels, would be re-assuring if they do, give me somewhere to swap mine if ay of them do split.

Could be an interesting use for strain guages, I'll dig out my notes and see what it takes to put one together :)

I am in a similar boat Oldstout. I bought a KK for a mate from THAT company (the one that has ceased trading. We all make mistakes) It's only been used twice & has developed the dreaded split. E mailed Ritchies about it (they supplied the Online Homebrew Company) & was pleasantly suprised to get this reply:

Please let us have your address & we can see who your local stockist might
be. If there is no one close by we will send you a replacement barrel shell
direct from here.

Thanks

Kind regards,

Will wait & see what happens.....

I have also managed to find the contact details for the manufacturer of KKs. If anybody needs them PM me.

Wow! Never heard of King Kegs splitting until this thread, and I had two, both already used before I got them, used them for a while, had a good few brews in them, some that got really well carbonated, yet no problems, and sold them to a work mate who is still using them, again with absolutely no problems :D

Have the manufacturers changed their process or something?? Is it largely newer kegs / top tap / bottom tap - what??

There was a duff batch around last year. Got 2 then-one for me & one for a mate. I use S30 gas fittings & mine is fine-he uses the pin & sparkler system & cracked after 2 brews.

My original KK is 18 years old & still works a treat

New barrel shell arrived from Ritchies @ 8.20 this morning

Damn good result, nice to hear off top class customer service in the current economic climate :)

All power to Ritchie's for sorting this out quickly.

Well my claim is now underway, KK went back to my LHBS today backed up with an email complaint with pics and request for compo for lost brew and carpet cleaning.....my LHBS are taking up the cudgel for me :thumb:

Let's see what happens......

;)

Don't think you will need that much of a cudgel OS.

After the result I had from Ritchies with getting a replacement I was well chuffed-TBH I was expecting a flat refusal.
I had contacted the manufacturer directly as well (not expecting a response from the above supplier). The QA manager got back to me today by e-mail to sort out a replacement.I was honest & told him a replacement had already been provided.

So that's 2 companies this week I dealt with that do care about their customers.

That sounds like great service Jim :thumb: I'll not refuse two KingKegs    as long as they come with a nice variety of two can beer kits to put in them
