That's a good kit. Don't chuck it. Make it as normal and use newer yeast. Make a hop tea and add to mix and possibly dry hop four days into fermentation to make up for any shortfall in depleated aroma.
For a first go, the cheapest. That was my motto at first.
Good dry hop or hop tea - Cascade. That's a hop and not usually too expensive.
30g hop tea is the suggestion. If you can get pellets, even better, just boil it up for 5-15 mins, leave it to cool down and chuck it in the FV, all the lot. Time it so that it goes in when the first ferment has died down after 3 days or so.
