I vot the delux kit from brewuk it was about 200 quid but heyho
what's the point on asking for advice you don't take? So here I am with the corney kegs on the way and no co2 what should I be ordering ? is there a standard bottle that works with this kit ? I heard they can be drilled to fix an s 30 bottle is that a good idea ?

They can be drilled but i wouldnt tbh got 3 like that click on the links at the top of page and email norm the corny king he'll put you right mention thehomebrewforum in the email :thumb: norms a top bloke

You need to use a proper CO2 bottle really. I use one from Norm which is really a 2kg fire extinguisher. I can get that filled at a local fire extinguisher place for a fiver. Other people succeed in getting pub size cylinders, but I don't have a decent local supplier. Any full size CO2 bottle will fit your regulator.

Be warned, cornys breed. I have just ordered 2 more from Norm which will take me to 6.

Well personally I can't see the logic in paying top whack for a ‘deluxe’ keg system and then drilling holes to bastardise it for a second-rate gas supply.

Get a proper regulator off Norm and do a web search for “cellar gases” in your area.

You are right I will not drill it for the s 30 valve it seems a dumb idea so I've aranged with the land lady to get me a co2 bottle. Now knowing nothing about co2 bottles or how long they last what is a sensible size to order? I don't want to be refilling every brew but I don't want to have a massive gas bottle under the stairs either
sorry for all the questions I'm sure it all seems very straight forward once you are clued up
cheers

I have absolutely no idea, I've only recently got a sweet little 7lb bottle (there's a photo in this topic) which is currently serving 7 kegs, but I wouldn't expect to need a refill for several months. SodaStream bottles don't last 5 minutes. Relatively speaking, not meant to be taken literally.

I'm with Moley on size. I think a small cylinder will be fine.

My 2Kg one is even smaller than Moleys, and I haven't had to have it fillied since I bought it, so far it has served about 8 kegs and I've used it to flush some through when cleaning.

I haven't even noticed the pressure guage change on it yet.

gas is easy and cheap to get hold off any where in the uk as BOC will deliver it if you want, they will also supply most sorts of regulators to fit the system you have, would i be drilling holes in new gear, NO WAY

BOC have taken over the gas supply business in Australia as well and have agents all over the place as they also do welding gases, oxygen etc. If it's the same deal where you are, I rent a 10K cylinder that lasts me about a year and get it refilled. Takes a Micromatic Regulator. Apart from the quarterly rent invoice, it's set and forget.

This is going to sound dumb, but I've been wondering this for awhile now... Which link in the sponsors is Norm? I had a quick look through before, but don't recall having any luck.

Look in the Links section here

links.php

Norm is the second one down.

You need to send him an email telling him what you want and he'll email you back with a price.

Norm does also sell on ebay http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/normannumpa/

It's worth emailing though as he has loads of stock thats not on ebay.

Ah, see, I was always looking at the sponsors rather than the links!

Thanks
