Hi
I am going to make 5 gallons of cider soon (when i'm back from uni) i was just wondering if there was an apple orchard in northwest england? anywhere that sells freshly squeezed apple juice perfect for fermenting (not that crappy Tesco stuff)

I have to be honest the apple juice from Aldi is made from concentrate, but it works great in an easy white wine, & i think some folks use it for TC :thumb:

fair enough, just out of interest, what is the difference when making apple cider and apple wine? what do you do differently?

Wine initially contains more sugar and less apple juice (some water is added), I've found 3 litres of apple juice in 4.5 litres batches works fine, cider contains less sugar and is generally 100% apple juice, most of the time no sugar is added/needed.

Don't be shy of concentrated apple juice, all this means is its frozen, then water is added back into it to dilute it. Its still pure juice but been through a process for transport reasons.
I have made an 'inmate brew' or similar to a turbo cider just from ingredients and yeast from asda, and it worked out perfect. The finished product tastes very good and with lemonade tastes very refreshing, so a good summer drink. Its 9.5% so not quite a cider, more an apple wine.
Cost me a few pence over £5 for everything, it gave me 4 bottles of wine. My next batch will cost £3, as £5 was the initial buy, so you cant go wrong at all!
