Yeah, those subsets (fear, apathetic or whatever) can be reasoned with or persuaded. I have no statistics on it but I would suppose they are a small percentage.
In the US, there's a whopping percentage, of which my post was directed toward, who just won't. They "know better." I have relatives who rely solely on FOX news for direction in life. It's a head shaker. They think watching podcasts is "doing their own research."
The disconnect with reality would be fascinating but for it being so destructive.

On a similar line, Nate Silver tweeted this, which I think are his gut-feel estimates rather than formal polling of how the US population breaks down :

This is sad - "very healthy" 49yo architect who didn't get round to being jabbed. It's a mistake to think that everyone who isn't jabbed is some kind of hardcore anti-vaxxer, some are just busy people who don't get round to it and in the US in particular there seems to be a bit of a problem with the kind of people who are juggling multiple min-wage jobs, kids etc, just not finding it easy to get the jab.

GREENWOOD, Arkansas—Michael Lejong fully intended to get vaccinated for Covid-19, his wife said, standing in the pavilion that the prominent architect designed for his hometown. But he was relatively young, very healthy and not overly concerned about the virus. He wanted to get his shots separately from his wife, so he could care for her if she had adverse side effects. She got hers immediately in April and he put his off.

In late June, he began feeling sick and tested positive for Covid-19. A week of mild symptoms turned into extreme fatigue. On July 3, he was admitted to a nearby hospital with low oxygen levels; on the 15th, doctors put him on a ventilator. He died four days later.

I wonder where that came from as later it says he wanted his wife to have hers first in case she suffered side effects.
This is going to sound a bit harsh but he caught it two months after his wife had her first jab he could have had his a week later after it was obvious his wife was ok and he would probably be alive today.

He's not around to ask what his motivations were, but I don't think we have to question them to get an idea of what was going on. This is smalltown America, where the rest of the world is a long way away, and the media they consume is incredibly parochial and encourages the line that the authorities are always lying to you. The kind of place where the Tea Party makes "Brexit"-style arguments within their own country, because Washington DC seems so remote, let alone other countries. These are not people like you, looking up the latest details of Covid every day; the point of this article is about how Covid didn't seem real until it killed someone in their community.

Also I don't know how the logistics of vaccines work in the US, particularly somewhere like western Arkansas which has a similar population density to Cumbria, there's very few towns over 10k population. And the US has largely used mRNA vaccines which had more of a logistics issue (although they've now eg approved using -20C freezers for short-term storage rather than -80C). So he may well have had to do the 40?-mile round-trip to "Carlisle" (Fort Smith) - not impossible, but not exactly convenient either.

So we don't know what he was thinking, but if the thought was "it won't reach here" and it wasn't easy to get the jab, then that may have made the difference. It's not easy when the media are trying to manipulate you into thinking that the remote bureaucrats are trying to do you harm, and it can be very comforting to think that the world stops at your fence, but ignoring the fact that we live in a globalised world can lead you to make very bad decisions.

Sorry NB but he did know the risk as he was going to get it then decided to let his wife go first to make sure he could help if she got side effects why he didn't get his as soon as they knew she was fine we will never know.

How generous of him to "let his wife" go first! She may well have been very keen to get it - women are generally a bit more pro-jab. Doesn't say anything about how he felt - there may have been an altruistic feeling of wanting to protect the person he loves first, you don't know.

And the point of the article is that there's a difference between "knowing" a risk and "feeling" it enough to take the time to do something about it.

You could say the same about that bit of guttering on my house that needs fixing, I know it should be fixed but there always seems to be something more important to do, the risk of it causing problems seems something to worry about another time.

Or imagine I offered you a shelter that would protect against you being trampled by an elephant. You'd decline it on the grounds that the risk of being trampled by an elephant in Cumbria seems pretty remote, even though you "know" and understand that the outcome of being trampled by an elephant is not good.

However if there was a herd of elephants rampaging through Barrow then that would change how you perceive the risk, and motivate you to take my elephant-trampling-shelter.

There is a lot of speculation in these posts the bottom line is (as i said earlier) he could have had the vaccine a week after she had it and was fine he didn't and two months later still hadn't had it and he has now paid the ultimate price.

Cousins is an NFL QB. His dad is a minister and has some strong opinions about COVID-19 and vaccinations.

A clip from an ESPN article:
"EAGAN, Minn. -- A day after Kirk Cousins doubled down on his stance regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, a hospital Cousins partners with in his hometown of Holland, Michigan, cut ties with the Minnesota Vikings quarterback."

'Celebrity' cov-idiots are a booming sector right now. We have them here too, David.

From @moto748 link.

I bet he thought he was funny when he used the word Scamdemic i hope no one who listened to him decided not to get the vaccine because of his views on the subject.

Former Newsmax host and right-wing Florida radio commentator Dick Farrel — who mocked vaccines, the “scamdemic” and “lying freak” Dr. Anthony Fauci — has died of COVID-19.
A very different Farrel, 65, told friends to get vaccinated, as he struggled with the virus. He died Wednesday, WPTV reported
“COVID took one of my best friends! RIP Dick Farrel. He is the reason I took the shot,” Farrel’s close friend Amy Leigh Hair wrote on Facebook. “He texted me and told me to ‘Get it!’ He told me this virus is no joke and he said, ‘I wish I had gotten it!’”

I’ve just seen reports that Anti Vaxers protesting against the BBC coverage of the pandemic have clashed with Police today whilst trying to storm the BBC building In White City. Well, I say the BBC building, it was until 2013 when they moved out and sold It. so, unless they are trying to bring down Noels House Party I’m not sure what good it will do! 😜

all down to choice. still no idea as why anyone would bother. more than 1500 have died within days of jab.
the narrative is now bribing kids and pregnant women.
research at the uks crick institute is suggesting the pf dose is harming free form antibodies preventing them from doing their job. the az has caused more than 2/3 of the 300k ADRs with over a million symptom sets, fits well with the projected regime of jabs for everything else because the body will have no defense.
its your body. its your choice.
interestingly patents were first submitted back in 1999 by the CDC on both the virus and the tests. you cant patent register nature....
the Qcovid app developed by oxford uni tells me im 8 times more likely to suffer ADR than be hospitalised. getting jabbed is nothing more than russian roulette. then theres the inaccurate tests that dont work and certainly dont distinguish....
its your body. its your choice.
life is never going to return to normal. its going to get worse. winter death will be blamed on the so called delta...when the reality will be that its those that have been jabbed and double jabbed and thats the delta right there....
funny how there was no recorded flu or pneumonia last year.no any excess death.
I pity those listening to the bbc and too fesrful to leave their doorsteps.

Any actual sources to share Mitch?

I’m genuinely interested where the “1500 have died within days of jab” comes from. Eg if there’s evidence to connect these deaths to the jabs or if the death numbers are in line with natural deaths, and 1500 of the millions of patients vaccinated would have died anyway.

Could you please post the specific location of the unadulterated information for the five or six points you made?
Second-hand info just mucks things up.
Thanks.
Edit: I spent two years following FOX and its readers in the Comments. Sadly, the "facts" given by posters had never been reliable and, at most, 50% accurate when compared with the source data.

“it’s your body. its your choice”

It’s my pub, it’s my choice
It’s my taxi, it’s my choice
It’s my aeroplane, it’s my choice
It’s my school, it’s my choice
It’s my doctors surgery, it’s my choice
It’s my supermarket, it’s my choice
It’s my hotel, it’s my choice

The actual science shows that you represent a greater health risk to me, my staff, my customers and society as a whole than people who have been vaccinated. It’s a matter of respect for others. So you’re not welcome here.

edit : I don’t mean the forum. I mean in my hypothetical establishments.

I will trump that with - (from May this year)

At least 33,000 hospitalisations have been prevented in those aged 65 and older in England as a result of the Covid-19 vaccination programme, a study has shown.

The new analysis from Public Health England also revealed that 11,700 deaths in those aged 60 and above have been avoided.

The Royal College of Nursing said the research was “further evidence” that the Covid-19 jab was working and paid tribute to nurses who were “leading the way” with the vaccination programme.

As part of its analysis, PHE compared the observed number of deaths against the number of deaths that would have been expected if the vaccine was not in place.

In doing so, it was estimated that 9,900 deaths were prevented in those aged 80 and over, 1,500 in those aged 70 to 79, and 300 in those aged 60 to 69, as of the end of April.

The study also added weight to evidence that the vaccine is “highly effective” in preventing hospitalisations, especially in older people, said PHE.

Results found that up to the end of April, approximately 3,900 hospital admissions were prevented in those aged 65 to 74, 13,100 in those aged 75 to 84, and 16,000 in those aged 85 and above.

PHE estimated the number of prevented hospitalisations by looking at vaccine effectiveness against hospital admissions, vaccine coverage and observed hospital admissions, as well as through modelling.

It said there was also now “clear and increasing” evidence that vaccines helped reduce transmission, meaning it was likely that an even higher number of deaths and hospitalisations had been prevented by the vaccination programme.

Commenting on the results, Helen Donovan, professional lead for public health nursing at the RCN, said: “This study is further evidence that the Covid-19 vaccines are working and nurses have been leading the way on the implementation programme.”

She stressed it was “vital” people had their vaccine as soon as they were eligible to “make sure that as many people as possible are protected from this illness”.

“Reducing the number of people who require hospital treatment due to Covid-19 will help the NHS on the road to recovery from the pandemic,” said Ms Donovan.

Head of immunisation at PHE, Dr Mary Ramsay, added: “The vaccine has already saved so many lives and we can now see the huge impact it has had on preventing people becoming seriously ill and therefore also protecting our hospitals.”

Meanwhile, minister for Covid-19 vaccine deployment, Nadhim Zahawi, said it was “fantastic to see the incredible impact” the programme was having on the country.
