I've never been a particularly heavy smoker, and have taken a few months off here and there before, but I had my first cigarette approx. 39 years ago.

I had my last approx. 30 minutes ago.

So what's your resolution?

1) Eat more veg, less meat, less pasta, less spuds.

2) Brew better beer.

3) Master this damn 'proper shaving' lark I've gotten into

That'll do me for 2014.

Best of luck with the ciggies, I started at 19, stopped at 39, been 'clean' now for just over 10 years. Try not to gain 4 stone in weight though, or you'll be making resolution #1 above :)

Been there, done that, don't need XL t-shirts anymore. I've lost 3 stones in the last 2 years and don't intend to get it back, although I have regained a few pounds over Christmas which need shedding again, starting tomorrow. Big roast beef dinner today.

For me it's get a new job.
Look after the family .

Shed those Christmas pounds

New Year Resolutions ??? Nah I'm from Yorkshire, dont need any..... :D :D

I've been a heavy smoker since I was at school ( just had me 64th birthday ) I've stopped smoking hundreds of times but never could stay off them though.

August 22, 2013 I had my first electronic cigarrette, never looked back and had no problems at all.
OK I still have nicotine ( it has very little harmfull effect on you ) but none of the crap associated with smoking. I'm £250-£300 a month better off ( its true )
I dont miss real ciggies at all.
Tried to have a christmas cigar on Christmas Day and couldn't smoke it , I threw it away...

As I said, I've never been a particularly heavy smoker. I quit ready-mades when they broke through the two quid a pack barrier (figure that out for yourselves) but have rolled my own ever since. A 12.5g pack of rolling weed (budget brand floor sweepings) at £3.15 would last me 2-3 days.

I tried the Nicolites e-cigs for 4 months 2 years ago but they really are quite nasty and don't give the right sort of hit. Now I'm trying a 'no-match' refillable toot flute which seem to be available from several branches of Cartridge World, and I think that will work for me.

1) lose around 3-4 stone and keep it off
2) get my AS, ADHD, anxiety & depression under control to the point where I can return to work
3) Finish my first novella and submit for publication (already have a publisher in mind) and get at least three short stories submitted as well - so far I have one short story and a flashfic under my belt

For all the people giving up smoking - good luck.

My mother in law just been diagnosed with Bronchial Pneumonia (sp??) - caused largely by heavy smoking. Haven't seen anyone be so ill yet actually survive - seriously not good.

My resolution ?? Perfect my wine making skills.
