hi all im new to the corny keg ive always bottled beer so anyway my new keg system is coming tommorow and im going to start this off using soda stream bottle what im wanting to know really is the full process starting from filling the keg ect as totally clueless , do I pour brew in the keg or is there different methods , do I still add sugar for second fermentation or not please advice full instruction thanks ste

hey just watched all vids and as far as I seen he doesn't add sugar too barrel is that correct

Most of the time with cornys you want to force carbonate it - so you put it on at a high CO2 pressure for a while.

But a little sodastream cylinder won't go far if you're doing that, so you'll want to put some sugar in the keg. After filling you'll need to give the keg a quick blast to seal the lid (cornys need pressure to seal as the lid overlaps on the inside).

After a couple of kegs you'll probably want to get a proper CO2 cylinder.

Sorry I thought he covered that in the vids. If you want to add sugar as a secondary then add the amount you would to 37 pints and leave the corny in the warm (20° ish) for a couple of weeks and it will carb up, unfortunately the first pint or so that you draw off will be, shall I say not too good. As stated earlier it's quicker and easier and not much more cost opposed to sugar to blast carb (force).

I think the 6.35kg bottles holds 151 gallons of co2, even with force carbing x2 kegs should last quite some time, from what i have seen maybe at least 1 year.

Not to bad for under £30 for the gas.
